A Thank You Letter From My 60-Year-Old Self
Today's newsletter is a little different. It's a letter — from 60-year-old me to 35-year-old me. Maybe it's also a letter from your future self to you.
Dear 35-Year-Old Me,
Thank you.
Thank you for thinking about me — even when everyone told you to just live for today.
Thanks for buying that home and grinding to pay it off early. For all the sacrifices you made: the nights out you skipped, the luxury car you didn't buy, the designer crap you didn't blow money on.
Because today at 60, I'm living in a house that's 100% mine. No mortgage. No stress. Just peace.
Thank you for putting money into those investment accounts month after month, even when it felt boring. Because now? Those boring ETFs and dividend stocks are cranking out over $200,000 a year in passive income. We travel when we want, eat where we want, and are not dependent on our kids or anyone else.
Thank you for saving for Arian's education. Because you did that, he graduated debt-free. Now he's building his future without the anchor of student loans.
You Didn't Always Think This Way…
I remember you struggling. Worrying: "What if I die before 60? What's the point of all this sacrifice?" "Why not live it up now?"
But here's the other side of that thought: "What if you don't die? What if you actually make it to 60 — and still want a damn good life?"
That's Why You Planned Ahead
Because if you're lucky enough to live a long life, it'd be a tragedy to arrive there broke, dependent, and full of regret.
So thank you. You made these decades the best of my life.
With Love, 60-Year-Old Me
