Hustle and the 911 Call

Sunday, 18 January 2026·2 min read· Mindset

After Arian (my son) was born, I wanted to lose weight. At first, it was simple. I wanted to look better. Feel lighter. Fit into my old clothes again.

So I hustled. I worked out when I felt like it 🏃‍♂️ I tried to eat better most days 🥗 And when I slipped, I told myself: "One more chip is fine." "One chocolate won't matter." "I'll run it off tomorrow."

Some weeks I was disciplined. Some weeks I completely fell off. And every time that happened, I thought the same thing: I just need more willpower.

What I didn't realize then — I had hustle — but no mission.

My goal was vague: Lose weight. Look better. Feel healthier. Nothing strong enough to hold me steady when life got busy.

The night everything changed

One day, I had a scary moment at home. My heart was racing. Something felt off. An ambulance came to the house 🚨

It turned out to be a reaction to something I ate. Nothing serious. No lasting damage. But that moment stayed with me.

Not because of what happened — but because of what could have.

That night, I wasn't thinking about weight or looks. I was thinking about Arian 👶 About being around longer. About having energy — not just income. About actually living the life I'm working so hard for.

Hustle vs mission (clear for the first time)

Before, I was hustling fitness. Hustling discipline. Hustling motivation. Now, I have a mission.

The workouts didn't suddenly become easy. The cravings didn't disappear. But decisions became simpler. When I ask, "Do I eat this?" I'm not answering as someone who wants to look better. I'm answering as someone who wants to live longer.

That one shift changed everything.

Hustle is effort. Mission is meaning. Hustle pushes you. Mission anchors you ⚓

When effort is tied to mission, you stop relying on motivation — because you're no longer negotiating with yourself.

I see this mistake everywhere: In business. In money. In health. In life.

People aren't lazy. They're just hustling without a clear why.
