I Don’t Want You To Retire

Sunday, 7 June 2026·3 min read· Money Mindset

I don't actually want you to retire.

At least not in the way most people think about retirement.

The dream is not to sit at home forever, stop working, and wait for life to pass. That sounds terrible.

For me, retirement has never meant "I will never work again." It means I have the option not to.

That's the real goal.

And if I'm being honest, I don't fully feel that freedom right now. Which is a weird thing to say after building a seven-figure business, but it's true.

I still wake up with responsibility. Clients, emails, team, content, family, bills, business, and people depending on me.

I love what I do. But loving your work and needing your work are two very different things.

That difference is retirement.

Retirement is not age 55. It is not a pension party. It is not a gold watch and cake in the office.

Retirement is optionality.

It is waking up and knowing, "I can work today because I want to. Not because the mortgage needs me to. Not because the bills are chasing me. Not because one bad month can break everything."

That's the kind of retirement I think about.

The ability to choose. To slow down. To say no. To stay longer.

I always give this example.

Imagine you go to Mexico for one week with your family, and for the first time in a long time, life feels light. The weather is good. The mornings are slow. Your kid is happy. You are not rushing. You are not checking your phone every 12 minutes. 🌊

And then you think, "What if we just stayed for three months?"

Most people can't. I can't either!

Not because they don't want to, but because life pulls them back. Emails. Clients. Work. Payments. Deadlines. Income.

But retirement, to me, means nothing breaks if you stay.

You don't have to run back because your money only works when you do.

That is freedom.

Not quitting life. Owning your time again.

That is why I talk so much about investing, mortgages, retirement numbers, cash flow, and building wealth. Not because I want you to become obsessed with money, but because I don't want money to own your calendar forever.

I want you to have the option.

To work hard if you want. To build if you want. To start something new if you want. To travel if you want. To take a Wednesday off with your kid if you want. To stay in Mexico for three months if life feels too good to leave.

That is retirement.

Not doing nothing.

Doing life on your terms.

And the crazy part is, this doesn't only happen through business. You don't need to build a seven-figure company to create this. A salary can do it. A TFSA can do it. An RRSP can do it. A paid-off home can help do it. A simple investing plan done for 20–30 years can do it.

But it won't happen by accident.

You have to build the option before you need the option.

Because one day, the goal may not be to stop working.

The goal may simply be to look at your life and say:

"I don't have to come back yet."

That's the retirement I want for you.

Not an ending.

An option. 🤍

P.S. Hit reply and tell me this:

If money was not forcing your schedule, what would you do differently next month?

Not 30 years from now.

Next month.
